Abstract
Ká Hó is a quiet valley on the northeast side of Coloane Island, looking out over Ká Hó Bay. It used to be the area of the Ká Hó Leprosarium, which was renamed “Vila de Nossa Senhora” in 1963, and it’s the only leprosy hospital ruins left in Macau. This place holds a special medical and cultural history. At today’s cultural mapping event, we will use pictures, labels, and hands-on activities to help you explore the long history of Catholic and Taoist faith here, The old leprosarium ruins and their stories, the drug rehab center and the lives of Vietnamese refugees who once lived here. We hope you’ll discover the unique culture of Ká Hó through these findings.
